Funding towards a new tri-shaw cycle to take residents of local care homes in the Denny and District area out for a ride.

Anticipated results

The Communities Along the Carron Association’s Cycling Without Age project began in 2016.  Volunteers take the residents of local care homes out for a ride on tri-shaws which have large wheels and can go off-road on terrain a wheelchair would be unable to access.
The initiative has had a transformative effect on the life of the elderly people who are taken on rides to places they’ve been unable to visit for a long time or to explore new areas.  It reduces loneliness and builds new relationships between users and the volunteers, reinforcing trust, respect and social cohesion.
